As you know by now I’m a pretty absolute person, either I love it or I hate it. Theres no in between. Pair that with being a creative and you have lists full of favorite artists and their creations. I read a quote once that talked about being well read, well traveled and well educated and I’ve made it my mission to become those anyway that I can. My mother also use to tell me to go to the places and become the kind of person you would want to hang around, for instance if you want to meet people with private boats hang out at an upscale marina, or if you want to meet people who value art and live in the abstract, acquire a favorite artist and hang out in art galleries and museums. So thats exactly what I’m doing; I found Sara Golish through Instagram (surprise surprise) and fell in love with her work. Sara is a visual artist from Canada that, according to her website, focuses on magical realism in the form of visual art. Her creations are unlike any I’ve ever seen.
Her work is incredible and features African Gods and Goddess through two main collections and other uncharacterized works. The first collection, Moondust, features drawing created by charcoal, conté and silver ink. Each drawing is of a magical goddess that not only has a name but a story. the second collection, Sundust, is very similar as it is drawings created with charcoal, conté, and gold ink. All of Golish’s work is available for purchase in multiple sizes with different flash sales and package deals going on all the time.
At this age were staring to get into the groove of ourselves. Find your favorites, what works for you and what doesn’t. Whether it’s a favorite artist or a favorite parking spot in front of your job, find something you love and don’t be ashamed that it makes you that much happier. This world is vast, and the faster you experiment and find what makes you, YOU the more you’ll get out of it.
Reach for your goal, say what you’re told, think that you know, See what you’re shown, watch it get old. Watch, it gets old.
